The Jazz Age Lawn Party Revives 1920's Style - 1920s Street Style - Jazz Age Lawn Party August 2013

The Jazz Age Lawn Party hit New York's Governors Island this past weekend for the ninth time, beckoning back the era of fringe dresses, cropped haircuts, and pearl string necklaces. 1920s enthusiasts celebrated the decade by picnicking with old-fashioned weaved baskets, swing dancing to big band tunes by Michael Arenella and the Dreamland Orchestra, and sipping on St. Germain cocktails—one group even held up "We Want Beer" signs protesting Prohibition.

As always, the highlight of the event was seeing '20s style on display. This time around, a handful of women donned dapper menswear while other attendees put on ladylike parasols, feathered head pieces, and beaded frocks.
