Julia Biryukova, 30, claims that her 2-year-old, sky, disappeared her parked car last weekend in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, Wash., after she left him alone when she ran out of gas and went to the service station.
But police have yet to find a young Skye Metalwala Despite an extensive search that included the smell, sniffing dogs, and now have lingering questions about the role of mother in the case.
"We suspect a criminal," said Bellevue Police Capt. Mike Johnson at a press conference on Wednesday. "Nothing about the story adds up."
In a twist, he notes that recent law & Order: SVU episode aired the night before the local Skye's disappearance was found to be "remarkably similar" to claims of Biryukova. Episode involved a mother who covers her child's death, claiming he was abducted from a parked car.
Meanwhile, her estranged husband of Biryukova, Solomon Metalwala, 36, claims that law and order is a favorite TV show of his wife, according to his attorney, Michael D. Tompkins.
No polygraph
Masada, Biryukova refused a polygraph and is locked in a bitter custody battle also with Metalwala, former shop owner of Pakistani immigrants comfort him married 14 years ago.
"He's a mess, like any parent would be," says Tompkins about his client. "He feels his ex-wife's story hard to believe there are so many holes. He's confused. He just wants to get his child back."
Biryukova, a Ukrainian immigrant to stay at-home-mom who lives near Redmond, Wash., told police that last Sunday she takes her son to the hospital ill with four-year-old daughter when her Acura money ran out of fuel. She claims she left Skye unattended for one hour, when she was 4 her daughter went to a nearby gas station for help.
When she returned, Skye was gone, she says.Vehicle enough gasWhile police continue to corroborate the story of the mother and not on behalf of all suspects, they confirmed this week that the Biryukova car does have a significant amount of gas in the tank and went without any problems.
Police say that even Biryukova trouble finding all residents to help her despite wandering around the neighborhood for an hour, and that she left home that morning without a cell purse, phone and wallet in spite of the desire to seek medical care Skye.
Biryukova's attorney, refused to respond to people, told police the woman was too messed up in not taking a polygraph examination.
"We want to believe Julia," said Major Johnson. "We want to help her find her missing child. [But her] story breaks per day, and its lack of cooperation so far with regard to providing information proactively to give a polygraph does not help. "
Her estranged husband did not take a polygraph test, but results were inconclusive, see. Metalwala's attorney attributed this fatigue and stress, and examine more pending.
Metalwala also issued a public argument this week.
"Please, sir or madam, if you have Sky, please bring it to the police, fire department or the hospital," said Metalwala. "Thanks for the treatment of Skye is long, but please give it back".
